John Wesley Funchess, known professionally as John Littlejohn, and born on April 16, 1931, in Lake, Mississippi, was an electric blues slide guitarist. He learned to play blues guitar under Henry Martin, a friend of his father. Littlejohn began performing regularly in Chicago and its surrounding areas after moving to Gary, Indiana. His first recordings were singles released in 1966 for various labels. Littlejohn released his debut album John Littlejohn's Chicago Blues Stars with Arhoolie Records in 1969, followed by Funky from Chicago with BluesWay in 1973 and Dream with MCM in 1977. Littlejohn passed away on February 1, 1994, due to renal failure.
