Jape is an Irish electronic-rock ensemble from Dublin established in 2003. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by electronic rock and for being the first act to win the Choice Music Prize more than once. The ensemble was founded as a side project by the musician Richie Egan while a member of the ensemble The Redneck Manifesto. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Cosmosphere (2003) followed by the studio recording The Monkeys in the Zoo Have More Fun Than Me (2004). The latter recording featured the single "Floating" which was covered by the musician Brendan Benson and the ensemble The Raconteurs. Jape achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Ritual (2008), which reached number 16 on the Irish charts and received the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year 2008. Their discography included the studio recording Ocean of Frequency (2011) which reached number 29 and received the Choice Music Prize in 2012. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for the studio recording This Chemical Sea (2015) reaching number 8 in Ireland and the studio recording Endless Thread (2023). Egan achieved professional recognition for relocating to Sweden in 2012.
