Kisida Kyodan & The Akebosi Rockets is an alternative rock band formed in 2004 in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Founded by singer, songwriter Kisida Kyodan, he started the project as a one-man band and began covering video game and anime soundtrack music - referred to as ‘dojin music’ - as well as original material. He began releasing dojin music albums under his own name in 2005 and then brought in vocalist Ichigo in 2007. By 2010, the group had grown to include guitarists Hayapi and T-tsu and drummer Mitchan. Signing to the Geneon Universal label, they released their debut single, “Highschool of the Damned,” which was the theme to the anime TV series of the same name. The single reached number 10 on the singles chart and led to the success of their album Popsense (2011), which was an album of original material. Reaching number 21 on the Japanese Albums chart, the album was followed by several other pop albums of original material including hack/SLASH (2014), Live Your Life (2017), Reboot (2018), and Berserkers (2024). One of the most popular creators of dojin music, Kisida Kyodan & The Akebosi Rockets have continued to release dojin albums in between their pop releases including Electric Blue (2008), Super Sonic Apple Rabbit (2015), Compact Disc (2018), MOD (2019), Black Market (2021), and ChōChō Cucumber (2023). Many of the group’s songs were used in anime series and the band has continued to grow audiences in the anime field and on the pop charts.
