Les Nouvelles Polyphonies Corses, a Corsican music group, was formed in France in 1989. Initiated by Patrizia Poli and Patrizia Gattaceca, their debut album, Les Nouvelles Polyphonies Corses Avec Hector Zazou, was released in 1991. The album featured collaborations with notable artists such as Manu Dibango on saxophone, Ivo Papasov on clarinet, Jon Hassell on trumpet, John Cale and Ryuichi Sakamoto on piano. The band was notably selected to perform at the opening ceremony of the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France, and their song "Giramondu" was later used in a global Philips advertisement.
