Penthouse are a six-piece city soul band from Tokyo, Japan. The group's formation traces back to their college days as part of the band collective Todai POMP. The group, consisting of members Namioka Shintaro, Oshima Maho, Cateen/Sumino Hayato, Yano Shintaro, Ohara Takuma, and Hirai Tatsunori, officially began their journey in June 2019. Signed with Victor Entertainment, Penthouse quickly made a name for themselves in the music scene thanks to their unique sound, characterized by the interplay of male and female vocals by Namioka and Oshima, complemented by the expressive piano skills of Sumino Hayato (also known as Cateen). Penthouse's rise in popularity was aided by their genre-spanning cover versions, achieving a large following on video-streaming platforms. Their single "…Koi ni Ochitara" was successful, reaching number 6 on Spotify's Viral Chart. Their major first EP, Living Room, arrived in 2021. Simultaneously, Penthouse's contributions to the theme and insert songs for the drama Cross Tail ~ Detective Classroom~ also led to an increased following and presence in the pop music landscape. In 2023, the group released their full-length album Balcony. Later that year, they released the single "Identify (アイデンティファイ)," which peaked at number 53 on JWAVE's Top 100 Hot Songs chart.
