Philip Zoubek, born in 1978 in Tulln an der Donau, Austria, is an Austrian pianist and composer known for his work in improvisation and avant‑garde jazz. After studying jazz piano at the Vienna Conservatory from 1996 and later at the Vienna University of Music, he moved to Cologne in 2000, where he studied under Hans Lüdemann, Frank Gratkowski and Marc Ducret. Zoubek’s breakthrough came with 2015 album Air, followed by 2019 release Radium. He has collaborated with artists such as Tony Buck, Lotte Anker and Franz Hautzinger, performed at the Moers Festival with Achim Tangs Trio, and contributed to projects like Slowfox and Tau 5. In 2020, he received the WDR Jazz Prize in the composition category, and from 2020 to 2023 held a Nica‑Artist scholarship with the European Centre for Jazz and Contemporary Music.
