Tuff Jam is a British DJ, music production, and remixing duo formed in London, England, in 1993 by Karl 'Tuff Enuff' Brown and Matt 'Jam' Lamont after meeting at the London club The Arches. Brown had previously achieved commercial success as a member of Double Trouble with their single “Street Tuff”. The duo presented a radio show on Kiss 100 from 1997 to 2000, playing a key role in the development of the UK garage genre. Their 1998 single, “Need Good Love”, reached number 44 on the UK Singles Chart, alongside releases including their debut single “Spread Love” in 1995 and “Reach On Up” in 1999. They mixed compilation albums including Underground Frequencies Volumes 1/2 between 1997 and 1998. In 2002, Brown launched the record label 2tuf4u, while Lamont continued his DJ career. In 2013, the duo featured in the documentary film Rewind 4Ever: The History of UK Garage.
