Michala Petri, born on July 7, 1958, in Copenhagen, Denmark, is a renowned recorder player known for her technical prowess. She began playing at age three and debuted as a soloist at Copenhagen's Tivoli concert hall in 1969. Her early album Et Koncertprogram was released on Principal Records in 1975. Married to guitarist Lars Hannibal from 1992 to 2010, the couple performed together on multiple recordings and concerts. Notable collaborations include performances with Keith Jarrett and Claudio Abbado. She released several notable albums, including Virtuoso Baroque (2011) and The Nightingale (2012) with the Danish National Vocal Ensemble, Stephen Layton, Uģis Prauliņš, Daniel Börtz, Sunleif Rasmussen, and Peter Bruun . Petri received the prestigious Léonie Sonning Music Prize in 2000.
