Ojos de Brujo was a band of nine members from Barcelona, Spain, featuring Marina “La Canillas” Abad on vocals, Dani Carbonell, Ramón Giménez on flamenco guitar, and Xavi Turull on percussion. They debuted with Vengue in 1999, a flamenco‑hip‑hop mix that challenged purists. In 2002 they released Barí, a self‑produced album that sold over 100,000 copies and led them to found their own label, La Fábrica de Colores; the band went on to win the BBC Radio 3 World Music Award for Europe in 2004. Later releases—Techarí (2006), Aocaná (2009), and Corriente Vital 10 Años (2010)—broadened their catalog. They played festivals such as WOMAD and collaborated with artists like Nitin Sawhney, earning wide recognition along the way.
