The 1910 Fruitgum Company, an American bubblegum pop band, originated in Linden, New Jersey in 1965. The group initially formed as Jeckell and the Hydes, with original members Frank Jeckell, Mark Gutkowski, Floyd Marcus, Pat Karwan, and Steve Mortkowitz. In 1967, they signed to Buddah Records and released their debut single "Simon Says", which reached number 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and peaked at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. The band's success continued with hits such as "May I Take a Giant Step" (US number 63), "1, 2, 3, Red Light" (US number 5), "Special Delivery" (US number 38), "Goody, Goody Gumdrops" (US number 37), "Indian Giver" (US number 5), and "The Train" (US number 57). Their first album, 1, 2, 3 Red Light, was released in 1968, followed by Simon Says in April 1968, Goody Goody Gumdrops, Indian Giver and Hard Ride in 1969, and 1910 Fruitgum Co. in 1970. The band toured extensively, opening for major acts like the Beach Boys. Notable achievements include "Simon Says" selling three and a half million copies, and both "1, 2, 3, Red Light" and "Indian Giver" each selling over one million copies, all awarded gold discs. The original group disbanded in 1970. In 1999, Frank Jeckell and Mick Mansueto reformed the act, who continue to perform their own hits along with other songs from the 1960s.
