Inactive Messiah, a Greek dark metal and melodic death metal band from Attica, was formed in 2001 initially under the name Womb of Maggots by bassist Lefteris Christou, drummer Catherine Stavropoulou, and keyboardist Christos Ven. In 2004, the band changed its name to Inactive Messiah and signed with Black Lotus Records, releasing their self-titled debut album. The following year, they released Be My Drug, which featured symphonic elements and collaborations with the Slovakian Symphony Orchestra, Juha-Pekka "JP" Leppäluoto of Charon, and Emppu Vuorinen of Nightwish. In 2008, Inactive Messiah released Sinful Nation. After a period of inactivity, the band resumed activities under their original name Womb of Maggots in 2014, releasing Decay of Humanity in 2016.
