Roberta Gambarini, born on November 30, 1964 in Turin, Italy, is a jazz singer who began taking clarinet lessons at age 12 and made her debut as a singer at 17 in northern Italian jazz clubs. In 1986, she started recording under her own name after moving to Milan. Gambarini moved to the United States in 1998 with a scholarship from the New England Conservatory of Music and placed third in Thelonious Monk Jazz Vocal International Competition. She then relocated to New York City to perform in jazz clubs. In 2006, she released her debut American album Easy to Love, which was nominated for Best Jazz Album at the Grammy Awards. Gambarini has collaborated with notable artists such as Herbie Hancock and Toots Thielemans, and performed at prestigious venues like the Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center. She has also toured extensively, notably performing with the Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band.
