Scythia was a Canadian folk metal band formed in 2010 in Vancouver. In 2008, the group's lead singer and guitarist, Dave Khan, initially formed Thorgen Hellhammer's Orc Rampage before transitioning to Scythia. Bassist Terry Savage joined the band at an open mic night, while drummer Celine Derval moved west with her family from Montreal. Oboist Morgan Zentner was born in the United States and lived in Montreal before moving west for school. The band relocated to Calgary in 2013. Scythia released several albums, including ...of War (2009), ...of Exile (2011), For the Bear EP (2012), ...of Conquest (2014), and Lineage (2016). They were nominated for a Sirius XM Indie Award for Metal Group of the Year in 2013. The band's video "Bear Claw Tavern" premiered on Guitar World’s website, further boosting their visibility. Scythia disbanded in 2018.
