Savage, a British heavy metal band from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, was formed in 1976 by bassist Chris Bradley. The group initially disbanded after one gig but reformed in 1978. Their breakthrough came with the song "Let It Loose", which appeared on the various artists compilation album Scene of the Crime (1981) and later influenced many bands, including Metallica who covered it on their demo tape. In 1983, Savage released their debut album Loose 'n Lethal. The band signed with Zebra Records in 1984 and released their second album Hyperactive the following year. Despite critical acclaim, lack of label support led to their disbandment in 1986. They resurfaced in 1995 with Holy Wars, followed by Babylon (1996) and Xtreme Machine (2000). After a hiatus due to personal issues, Savage returned in 2011 with Sons of Malice. Bassist Chris Bradley died on November 6, 2025.
