Moses Mayfield is a rock band from Birmingham, Alabama, formed in 2002. The group released their EP Unified in 2003 and followed it up with the album Enough to Let Go in 2004. They opened for notable acts such as Switchfoot, The Fray, Will Hoge, Pete Yorn, and Blue October on several nationwide tours. In March 2007, Moses Mayfield released their major-label debut album The Inside under Columbia Records and Sony BMG, which peaked at number 43 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Guitarist Will Mason left the band in August 2007, and Dave Taylor joined for upcoming tours. Despite these changes, the band decided to take a hiatus in December 2007 due to realignments of personal goals and disagreements with their record label. Lead singer Matthew Mayfield continued performing solo acoustic shows and released an independent album of acoustic songs within a year.
