Schola Cantorum Basiliensis is a Swiss music academy and research institution from Basel established in 1933. They achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by early music and historically informed performance and for being founded by the musician Paul Sacher. The institution achieved professional recognition for a career that began as a school for early music and merged with other institutions to form the City of Basel Music Academy in 1954. Faculty members include August Wenzinger, Ina Lohr, and Max Meili. Their recording career included the studio recording Chill to the Chant (1994). The academy achieved professional recognition for training prominent musicians including Gustav Leonhardt, Jordi Savall, and Christina Pluhar. Notable faculty members achieved professional recognition for including René Jacobs and Anthony Rooley.
