Andrea Álvarez, born on May 23, 1962, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is an Argentine musician and singer. She was one of the pioneering female drummers in Argentina and a member of Rouge, the country’s first all-female rock band to perform its own original songs. Following Rouge’s dissolution, Álvarez collaborated with numerous notable artists including Soda Stereo, Charly García, Divididos, Celeste Carballo, and Tito Puente. In the late 1990s, she began developing her own musical projects, first with the all-female percussion ensemble Pulsomadre before launching her solo career. She released her self-titled debut solo album in 2001, followed by releases including Dormís? (2005), Doble A (2008), and Y Lo Dejamos Venir (2015). In 2015, she received the Konex Award for “Best Female Rock Artist Of The Decade,” and in 2016 Y Lo Dejamos Venir was nominated for Best Rock Album at the Latin Grammy Awards.
