Frieder Lück, also known as Thomas Lück, was born on February 14, 1943, in Dranske and was a German pop singer and actor. He became prominent in East Germany’s popular music scene during the 1960s. Trained as an electromechanical technician, he began performing at 18 and gained attention after a successful audition for East German Radio in 1964. His first recording, “Nimm den Nachtzug,” was released in 1965, followed by numerous popular songs and television appearances. He also pursued acting, appearing in musicals, sketches, television productions, and DEFA films, including a leading role in the comedy Liebesfallen. He released his first LP on Amiga in 1978 and went on to record additional albums and singles while participating in more than 100 radio and television productions. In 1997, he began performing with fellow singer Andreas Holm as the duo Holm & Lück. He ended his stage career in 2019 and died on October 10 of that year at the age of 76.
