Emilio Jiménez Gallego, born on November 3, 1923 in Melilla, Spain, was a Spanish cantaor, guitarist, and humorist who fused flamenco with humor. He debuted at fifteen, winning seven consecutive cante contests and gaining recognition as a promising flamenco vocalist in North Africa. In 1949, he relocated to Madrid, adopting the stage name Emilio el Moro and appearing in the show Constelación 1951 at Teatro La Latina. He introduced a unique comedic style that blended guitar playing, singing, and satirical parodies of popular contemporary hits, which he performed wearing a fez. His studio recordings included the albums Chistología del Cante Flamenco (1965), Yo No Soy Ese (1973), and La Democracia (1976). He also appeared in the film La insólita y gloriosa hazaña del cipote de Archidona (1979). He died on July 10, 1987 in Alcoy, Alicante, from burns sustained in a domestic accident.
