Karl Forster, born on August 1, 1904, in Großklenau, Germany, was a German musician and choral conductor. He studied philosophy and theology at the Philosophiscal-Theological University in Regensburg and received his priestly ordination in 1928. Forster then pursued musical studies at the State Academy of Music and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. In 1934, he became choirmaster at the St. Hedwig's Cathedral Choir in Berlin, leading the cathedral's choir until his death in 1963. Under his direction, the choir gained international recognition and produced recordings, notably Messias by Händel. Forster was appointed honorary professor of musicology at the Technical University of Berlin in 1952 and music director at the Free University of Berlin in 1954. He also received the Berlin Art Prize in 1953.
