The Nice Device was an American indie rock band from Hamtramck, Michigan, active from 2000 to 2009. Fronted by singer-songwriter Alicia Gbur, the group blended indie rock, power pop, garage rock, and indie pop, drawing comparisons to Blondie, The Buzzcocks, and The Pixies. They emerged from Detroit's thriving rock scene and built a reputation through energetic live performances and hook-driven songwriting. The band recorded with notable producers and musicians, including Jim Diamond, Brendan Benson, and Tim Patalan. Their releases include the EPs Birth of a Lover (2004) and Sorry We Killed You (2008), along with the full-length album Let the Nightlife Down (2006). Their music appeared in films, television series, and compilation albums before the band unofficially disbanded in 2009.
