A. A. Williams, whose real name is Anneka Williams, is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from London whose music blends post-rock, dark folk, gothic atmospheres, heavy rock, and classical crossover. Before launching her solo career, she was a member of the London-based alternative rock band NED in the 2010s; where she honed her songwriting skills and mastery of several instruments before pursuing a solo career. She made her debut as a solo artist in 2019 with her self-titled debut EP, A.A. Williams (Holy Roar Records), followed by the EP Exit in Darkness (2019) with the Japanese post-rock band Mono. Her debut album, Forever Blue, was released in 2020 on Bella Union; it features a striking fusion of orchestral textures, piano, guitar, and post-rock crescendos, with Johannes Persson contributing. During the 2020 lockdown, A.A. Williams created the cover project Songs from Isolation (2021), reinterpreting songs by artists such as Radiohead, Deftones, Pixies, The Moody Blues, and Nine Inch Nails. She also released the EP Arco (2021), an orchestral reinterpretation of her early compositions featuring string arrangements. Her second studio album, As The Moon Rests (2022), expanded her sonic palette with heavier and denser instrumentation. In 2024, she released the single “Splinter”, followed in 2026 by her third studio album, Solstice.
