The Joe Perry Project is an American rock band formed by Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry shortly before he departed from Aerosmith in 1979. The band’s breakthrough came with the 1980 debut album Let the Music Do the Talking, which reached the U.S. charts and sold 250,000 copies in six months. Subsequent releases, I’ve Got the Rock ’n’ Rolls Again (1981) and Once a Rocker, Always a Rocker (1983), failed to match the debut’s commercial success, and the original lineup disbanded in 1984 when Perry rejoined Aerosmith. The group re‑formed several times, releasing Have Guitar, Will Travel (2009) and the EP Joe Perry’s Merry Christmas (2014) on Perry’s own Roman Records. The band has toured extensively, opening for acts such as Bad Company and Mötley Crüe, and has maintained a presence in the hard‑rock canon through occasional reunion shows and new line‑ups featuring former Aerosmith and other notable musicians.
