Crumbsuckers was formed in 1982 in Baldwin, Nassau County, New York by bassist Gary Meskil. The band recorded a demo in June 1983, leading to their first CBGBs showcase. Their debut album Life of Dreams was released through Combat Records in 1986, featuring notable songs like "Trapped" and "Return to the Womb". In 1987, guitarist Dave Wynn left, and Robbie Koebler joined for their second album Beast on My Back, released in 1988. In the same year, the band was nominated for Best Hardcore Rock Band at the New York Music Awards. Following a U.S. tour with bands like Sacred Reich and Pantera, lead vocalist Chris Notaro departed due to musical differences. Crumbsuckers played several reunion shows, including in 2015 at the Black N' Blue Bowl Festival in New York City.
