Maria Antonina Rodowicz, known professionally as Maryla Rodowicz, was born on December 8, 1945, in Zielona Góra, Poland. She began her professional career in 1967, competing at the Song and Singing Festival in Kraków and recording at the Polish Radio Song Studio. Rodowicz made her recording debut in 1970 with the studio album Żyj mój świecie. Since then, she has released more than 20 Polish-language studio albums, as well as one album each in English, Czech, German, and Russian. Her commercial success has earned her five platinum and three gold certifications in Poland. Throughout her career, she has performed at major music festivals, including the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole and the Sopot Festival, and has toured across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Australia. With a repertoire of around 2,000 songs and a lasting influence on Polish popular music, she is widely regarded as the "queen of Polish song."
