Marty Grosz is a German-born American jazz guitarist, banjoist, and vocalist born as Martin Oliver Grosz on February 28, 1930, in Berlin. He achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by swing and Dixieland jazz and for being a member of the ensemble Soprano Summit. Grosz achieved professional recognition for a career that began after he moved to the United States at age three and recorded with Art Hodes in Chicago during the 1950s. His recording career began with the debut studio recording Hooray for Bix! (1957) released on the label Riverside. Grosz achieved professional recognition for forming the Classic Jazz Quartet in the 1980s and his robust sound produced by a lower banjo-derived tuning. His discography included the studio recording The James P. Johnson Songbook (2011) and the studio recording Keep a Song in Your Soul (2014).
