Anton Barbeau, born April 24, 1967, in Sacramento, California, is an American singer-songwriter and producer. He began his music career with The Horse's Tongue, a collection of songs released in 1993 with the JoyBoys, which won the SAMMIE Award for Album of the Year in 1994. He has since released over twenty albums, including collaborations such as What If It Works? (2006) with Scott Miller and Bag of Kittens (2009), Little World (2016) with Allyson Seconds. He has performed with notable artists like Julian Cope, Weezer, and The Bevis Frond. Barbeau's work often combines surreal lyrics with pop melodies, drawing influences from Robyn Hitchcock, Syd Barrett, XTC, and The Beatles. His albums In the Village of the Apple Sun (2006) and Magic Act (2016) received critical acclaim. In 2023, he released his double album Morgenmusik/Nachtschlager and Dig the Light in 2025.
