Weissglut, a German rock band from Bingen am Rhein, was formed in 1996 and is associated with Neue Deutsche Härte. The band released their self-titled debut album Weissglut in 1998, which led to a contract with Sony. The label re-released the album as Etwas kommt in deine Welt, adding a new track and cover art. In January 1999, Weissglut parted ways with founding member Josef Maria Klumb due to allegations of right-wing extremism. Tom von Köngelen took over vocal duties and text conception for their third album Zeichen (2000). Following the release of Zeichen, the band disbanded after their final concert on December 12, 2002, in Munich, though Klumb retained the rights to the name Weissglut. Subsequent releases include remastered demo recordings such as Im Staub der Rebellion (1997).
