The Quarrymen is a skiffle and rock 'n' roll group from Liverpool, England, formed in 1956 by John Lennon. The band initially consisted of Lennon and school friends, including Pete Shotton and Bill Smith. They started as a skiffle group, inspired by the simplicity and accessibility of the genre. In 1958, the group recorded the songs "That'll Be the Day" and "In Spite of All the Danger". The group evolved with the addition of Paul McCartney in 1957 and George Harrison in 1958, both of whom later became members of The Beatles. The original group disbanded in 1960, but the band later released albums including Open for Engagements (1995), Get Back - Together (1997), and Songs We Remember (2004).
