David O'Higgins, born on September 1, 1964, in Birmingham, England, is a British jazz saxophonist and composer known for his work on tenor and soprano saxophone as well as flute. Beginning his musical path with trumpet, drums, and piano lessons, he started performing on the alto saxophone and drums at age 16. His early career included performances with the Derbyshire Youth Jazz Orchestra and Harold Kyte's Stapleford Big Band in 1982, leading him to switch to tenor saxophone while performing in his own band in Spondon, Derbyshire. After moving to London in 1983, O'Higgins studied at City University and the Wavendon Summer School, while also performing with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra from 1983 to 1986. He led his own bands starting in 1983 and performed with Cleo Laine and John Dankworth in 1986. His recordings include the albums All Good Things (1992), The Grinder's Monkey (1999), Fast Food Shuffle (2002), and Push (2004), alongside the 2019 collaboration with Rob Luft, Play Monk & Trane. He also collaborated with artists such as Sheila Jordan, Eric Alexander, and Jazzanova.
