Ken Marlon Charles, known professionally as KMC, is a soca musician from Rio Claro, Trinidad and Tobago. As a child, he listened to local bands in his village and began playing drums around age seven before moving on to melodic instruments. He began his career as a dancehall artist, releasing sixteen recordings before shifting toward soca in 1998, when he produced tracks including "Kaya," "Bashment to Carnival," and "Soca Bashment." He has independently released more than ten soca albums and compilations, including Voodoo, Drunk Man, Concubine, and Thunderbirds, and has produced songs for artists including Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, Destra Garcia, and Denise Belfon. In 2005, he signed with the American label Sequence Records and released the album Soul on Fire, led by its title single in June of that year; a remix of "Soul on Fire" featured dancehall artist Beenie Man and DJ Fat Man Scoop. The album entered the Billboard 200 at number 84. That October, KMC joined Beenie Man on his US "King of the Dancehall" tour. His discography also includes the albums Street Life (1996), Get Better (2002), and Somebody to Touch Me (2020).
