Ashley Solomon is a British flutist and recorder player who began his musical education at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating in 1991. The same year, he won the Moeck/SRP Solo Recorder Playing Competition, performed at Wigmore Hall, and co‑founded the early‑music ensemble Florilegium. In 1994, he joined the Royal College of Music as a professor of recorder, becoming the first head of its historical performance department in 2006 and receiving a dedicated chair in historic performance in 2014. He began directing Florilegium in 2001 and in 2020 released The Spohr Collection.
