The Hourly Radio was a Dallas-based rock band formed in 2003 by Aaron Closson and Ryan Short. The duo began writing songs together shortly after meeting and eventually assembled the rest of the lineup, adding Adam Vanderkolk on drums and Tim Jansen on bass in 2004. Their first release was the EP Lure of the Underground in January 2005. In September 2006, they released their debut album, History Will Never Hold Me, which received critical acclaim; Billboard critic Jason MacNeil named it the Number 1 record of 2006. The band toured extensively from 2006 to 2007 with acts such as Shiny Toy Guns and Stellastarr. In January 2008, Ryan Short announced his departure from the band, and by July 2008, The Hourly Radio had disbanded. They reunited briefly in October 2016 for a series of anniversary shows celebrating History Will Never Hold Me.
