Keith Lorenzo Blake, known professionally as Prince Alla, was born on May 10, 1950, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. He started his career with The Leaders, recording for producer Joe Gibbs in the late 1960s. After the group disbanded, Blake briefly pursued a solo career. Influenced by Rastafarianism, though, he withdrew from music in 1969 but returned in the mid-1970s, collaborating with Teddy Powell on "Born a Fighter" and releasing classic reggae roots tracks such as "Sun Is Shining" and "Bucket Bottom". He also recorded for Tapper Zukie, including the album Heaven Is My Roof. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Prince Alla released several albums, including King of the Road (1982) and Jah Children Gather Round (1996). His work gained renewed attention through releases of material from the 1970s by Blood & Fire Records, such as Only Love Can Conquer and I Can Hear The Children Singing. Since 2010, he has toured extensively with Rockers Agency.
