Kris De Bruyne, born Kristiaan De Bruyne on March 20, 1950, in Antwerp, Belgium, sang and played guitar. De Bruyne gained prominence in the music scene with a distinctive style that blended folk, kleinkunst, and rock elements. Early career milestones include joining the duo Lamp & Lazerus to form the group Lamp, Lazerus & Kris, releasing the album Lamp, Lazerus en Kris (1971). De Bruyne released the solo debut album Kris De Bruyne (1973). Notable songs include "Amsterdam", "Vilvoorde City", and "Het Varken van de Hoge Venen". The artist released several albums including Ballerina's (1977), Paprika (1979), and Oog in oog (1989). De Bruyne collaborated with various artists and released the album In levende lijve (2016). De Bruyne died on February 3, 2021, in Cascais, Portugal.
