The Freeze is an American punk rock and hardcore punk band from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, formed in 1978 by vocalist Clif “Hanger” Croce. The group released its debut single, “I Hate Tourists”, on Rebel Records in 1980, with a lineup featuring Croce, guitarist Rob DeCradle, bassist Rick Andrews, and drummer Lou Cataldo. In 1982, the band contributed several tracks to the hardcore punk compilation album, This Is Boston, Not L.A. The group's debut studio album, Land of the Lost, and the EP, Guilty Face, were both released in 1984 through Modern Method Records, followed by the album Rabid Reaction in 1985. After a hiatus, the band returned in 1991 with the album Misery Loves Company, issued on Taang! Records. The band subsequently released the studio albums Crawling Blind (1994), Freak Show (1995), and One False Move (1999). After a twenty-year hiatus from studio albums, the band released Calling All Creatures in 2019 through Slope Records. The group's active history includes performing concerts in the Boston area with Croce as the sole remaining original member.
