Prayer for Cleansing, an American metalcore band from Raleigh, North Carolina, was formed in 1996 by David Anthem (vocals), Paul Waggoner (guitar), Dennis Lamb (guitar), Will Goodyear (drums) and Marc Duncan (bass). The group signed to Tribunal Records in 1999 and released their debut album, The Rain in Endless Fall (1999). Shortly before its release, Dennis Lamb left the band. In 2000, Prayer for Cleansing disbanded following an automobile accident that totaled their touring van. The band reunited briefly in 2004 for two shows at the Tremont Music Hall and the Hellfest music festival. Other notable releases include a remixed and remastered version of The Rain in Endless Fall in 2003 and the EP, The Tragedy, released in 2004. The band also reunited in 2022 and 2023 for performances.
