Enemy Soil was an American grindcore band from Sterling, Virginia, formed in 1991. Early recordings featured a drum machine due to lineup instability. Their first releases included the split cassette with Parasitic Infestation in 1993 and the single "Casualties of Progress" in 1995. The band's debut EP War Parade was released in 1996, followed by their full-length album The Ruins of Eden in 1997. Enemy Soil disbanded in spring 1999 after releasing numerous splits and records. In 2001, French label Bones Brigade Records issued Smashes the State!, a two-disc compilation containing most of the band's discography. The group reformed for a one-off reunion show at CBGB in New York City in 2001, and again in June 2017 for several shows, notably an appearance at Maryland Deathfest 2018.
