Michał Jacaszek, born on May 19, 1972, is a Polish composer, producer, and electroacoustic musician who often credits his work simply as Jacaszek. He began his solo recording career with Lo-Fi Stories (2004), an album built around samples, electronic rhythms, and sounds drawn from old recordings and mechanical objects. He subsequently released Treny (2008), combining electronic processing with string arrangements, followed by Pentral (2009) and Glimmer (2011). His recordings also include Pieśni (2013), based on traditional Polish religious songs, and Catalogue des Arbres (2014), recorded in collaboration with Kwartludium and inspired by the sounds of nature. Jacaszek continued with Kwiaty (2017), Music for Film (2020), and Gardenia (2020). Alongside his recorded work, he has composed music for film and theatre, including Jan Komasa's Suicide Room (2011), and has collaborated with musicians including Stefan Wesołowski, Kwartludium, Mikołaj Trzaska, and Tomasz Budzyński. His album Idylla (2025) completed a trilogy of nature-based recordings with Catalogue des Arbres and Gardenia.
