Mandragora Scream, a gothic metal band from Italy, was formed in 1997. The group's initial steps began with Morgan Lacroix recording a demo in 1999. In 2000, Lacroix collaborated with Tery Horn, leading to the release of their debut album Fairy Tales from Hell’s Caves in 2001 via Caipiranha Records. Their second album, A Whisper of Dew, followed in 2003. In 2006, Mandragora Scream released their third album, Madhouse, under Lunatic Asylum Records, which included the single "Dark Lantern" that garnered over one million views on a video streaming platform within six months. The band's subsequent albums include Volturna (2009) and Luciferland (2012).
