Matthew Mayfield, born April 9, 1983, in Birmingham, Alabama, is an American singer and songwriter. He began his music career as the lead singer of Moses Mayfield, a group that disbanded in 2008. Following the breakup, Mayfield transitioned to a solo career, releasing the debut EP The Fire EP in 2008. Between 2009 and 2010, he independently released five additional EPs, including Five Chances Remain Hers in 2009 and Maybe Next Christmas in 2009. In 2010, he released his first full-length studio album Now You're Free, which led to tours with artists like Needtobreathe and Will Hoge. He released subsequent albums including A Banquet for Ghosts in 2012, Wild Eyes in 2015, and Prizefighter in 2024. In 2024, he contributed vocals to the song "The Ballad of the Witches' Road (True Crime Version)" for the soundtrack of the Disney+ series Agatha All Along.
