Stephanie Nonoshita Topalian, born on August 5, 1987, in Los Angeles, California, United States, is an American-born singer and actress of Armenian and Japanese descent. She moved to Japan with her family at age 13 and sent an audio demo tape to music producer Joe Rinoie at age 14. She made her major debut in 2007 under SME Records, and that same year, she won the Best New Artist Award at the 49th Japan Record Awards. Her debut single, “Kimiga Iru Kagiri”, and her follow-up single, “Because of You”, served as ending themes for the anime series Kiss Dum. In 2008, her single “Friends” was featured as the second ending theme for the anime Gundam 00 and reached the top 10 of the Oricon charts. Topalian subsequently released her self-titled debut studio album, Stephanie (2008), which peaked at number 25, and her second studio album, Colors of My Voice (2009), both under SME Records. In 2015, she joined the supergroup Genealogy to represent Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015, performing the song “Face the Shadow” in Vienna, Austria.
