Kim Richardson

Kimberly Ann Richardson, born on December 22, 1965, in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian singer and actress. The daughter of singer and actress Jackie Richardson, she began singing in a church choir at age seven and joined the local quartet The Tiaras at sixteen. Her breakthrough came with the 1985 single "He’s My Lover", which earned her the 1986 Juno Award for Most Promising Female Artist. The following year, she won the Juno Award for Best R&B/Soul Recording with her single "Peek-a-Boo". After moving to Montreal, she performed with the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir starting in 1988, and collaborated with Jim Hillman on the album The Merlin Factor, which won the 1995 Juno Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album. Her solo albums include Kaleidoscope (2006) and Mes Amours (2011). In 2011, she contributed the song "Waiting For Your Touch" to the film Funkytown, winning the Genie Award for Best Original Song. She also performed in musical theater productions including Ain't Misbehavin' and Cookin' at the Cookery: The Music & Times of Alberta Hunter, earning a Dora Mavor Moore Award for each, and collaborated with singer Jonathan Roy.
