Pwr Bttm was an American punk duo formed in 2013 at Bard College. The group consisted of musicians Ben Hopkins and Liv Bruce. The ensemble released the demo Cinderella Beauty Shop in 2014. In 2015, the duo released the singles “Ugly Cherries” and “Dairy Queen”. Their debut studio album, Ugly Cherries, appeared in September 2015. The band signed with labels including Polyvinyl and Big Scary Monsters. In May 2017, the duo released the album Pageant, which featured the singles “Projection” and “Big Beautiful Day”. Shortly before the release of the record, Hopkins was accused of sexual abuse on social media. Pwr Bttm denied the allegations. In light of the controversy, the group was dropped by its management and record labels. Polyvinyl and other distributors removed the band's music and merchandise from their catalogs. The group's recordings were also removed from major digital streaming platforms in May 2017. The band broke up that same year after a falling-out between Hopkins and Bruce.
