Aparato Raro, a Chilean synth-pop and new wave band, was formed in Santiago in 1984 by Juan Ricardo Weiler, Igor Rodríguez, Rodrigo "Coti" Aboitiz, and Boris Sazunic. Initially known as Ojo de Horus, the group started as a jazz-fusion band before transitioning to synth-pop after discovering artists like Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk. Their debut album, Aparato Raro, was released in 1985, featuring notable tracks such as "Calibraciones" which became an emblematic song of the decade in Chile. The band's final studio album, Blanco & Negro, was released in 1987. Despite disbanding in 1988, Aparato Raro reunited sporadically for live performances, notably at the Cumbre del Rock Chileno concert in 2007 and the Movistar Arena festival in 2013. The band announced a new album and several concerts in 2015 with further lineup changes in 2018.
