Hithouse was created in the Netherlands at the end of the 1980s as a studio project by Dutch producer Peter Slaghuis. Peter Slaghuis was born on August 21, 1961 in Rijswijk, the Netherlands. He initially worked as a DJ and producer in the European dance scene. Under the name Hithouse, he developed a style between acid house, house and European club music. The project is one of the early European house acts with international chart success. In 1988, Hithouse released the single "Jack to the Sound of the Underground". The track developed into a Europe-wide club hit and reached number 6 in the British singles charts, among other places. The use of samples and minimalist house structures is particularly influential. "Move Your Feet to the Rhythm of the Beat" followed shortly afterwards . This single also reached the international dance charts. With "Everybody House the House", Hithouse achieved further success in European clubs and radio programs. In 1989, the album Hithouse is released with several of the group's well-known club tracks. In the same year, Jack to the Sound of the Underground followed as a further album project. The productions combine Chicago house influences with European dance-pop aesthetics. Peter Slaghuis dies in a car accident near The Hague in the Netherlands on September 5, 1991.
