Ryo is a Japanese composer and producer best known as the founder and sole composer of supercell, as well as the producer behind the vocal project EGOIST, which later went on hiatus. Before entering the Vocaloid scene, Ryo worked behind the scenes composing songs for singers, but grew frustrated with the lack of recognition given to composers. Encouraged by a college junior, he turned to Vocaloid as a way to make his name visible, a decision that shaped his career. His breakout moment came when the Vocaloid track “Melt” gained explosive popularity on Japanese online video platform, triggering the so-called “Melt Shock” and establishing Ryo as a central figure in internet-era Japanese pop. Songs such as "Ex-Otogibanashi"(2026) showcased his melodic, emotionally direct pop writing style. Following supercell’s major debut, Ryo became heavily involved in anime music, composing opening and ending themes for titles such as Guilty Crown, Shakugan no Shana Final, and Fake Story, while launching EGOIST with vocalist chelly. He also composed game music, including the OST for Bravely Second. After a quieter period, Ryo returned to composition with works like the ending theme for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury in 2022, and in 2026 served as executive OST producer for Super Princess Kaguya.
