Name Taken was an American rock band from Orange, California. Formed in 1999 under the original name All That's Left by Chad Atkinson, Blake Means, and Bret Meisenbach, the group began performing at local venues such as backyard parties and church dances, and released The Stupid Chad EP (2000). After discovering in October 1999 that another band had the same name, they changed their name to Name Taken in August 2001. Their first EP, The Silent Game, was released through Top Notch Records later that year, and drummer Danny Valencia subsequently replaced Meisenbach. In December 2003, the band signed to Fiddler Records, having previously released a split album with Bayside (2003). They released their debut album, Hold On, on April 13, 2004, and toured extensively with bands like Fall Out Boy, Bayside, and Relient K. On May 18, 2005, the band announced their breakup to pursue college education, but reunited for two shows on May 5 and May 6, 2007. They released their first song in 14 years, “Blood and Bones”, in July 2018, and later issued a 2007 home demo of “Nanking” in 2022.
