Eryk Kowalczyk, born July 29, 1989 in Poland, professionally known as Xilent, is a Polish dubstep, electro-house, and drum and bass producer. He spent his childhood in Warsaw, where his parents, who were both professional musicians, introduced him to 1980s funk and soul. At eight years old, he began producing music. He later studied software development in Edinburgh, Scotland, for three years. He achieved international fame with the song “Choose Me II” (2011), which was released on Beatport on May 16, 2011, reaching Number 1 on the Beatport Dubstep charts and remaining in the top five for three months. This track earned him a nomination for Best Newcomer Producer at the 2011 Drum&Bass Arena Awards. Under contract with AudioPorn Records, he released the EPs Choose Me (2011) and Skyward (2011), followed by his debut studio album We Are Virtual, released on May 17, 2015. He later released the album We Are Dust on May 20, 2019 through the Canadian independent label Monstercat.
