Julia Lee, born October 31, 1902 in Boonville, Missouri, was an American blues and dirty blues musician. Raised in Kansas City by a family of musicians, she began her musical training at age 10. In her early teens, Julia Lee started working with her brother George E. Lee Jr., forming a trio that evolved into the Novelty Singing Orchestra. Her breakthrough came with "He's Tall Dark and Handsome" (1930) and "Won't You Come Over to My House" (1930) recorded in November 1929 at Brunswick Records. In 1944, she signed with Capitol Records, releasing hits like "King Size Papa", which reached Number 1 R&B for nine weeks in 1948. She passed away on December 8, 1958.
